Do I Still Need A Vacuum Cleaner If I Have A Carpet Washer?
If you go to the very sensible step of getting yourself a carpet washer do you still need a vacuum cleaner? It’s a fair question – the answer to which is yes you do. Carpet washers and vacuum cleaners look pretty much alike. The main variants of both machines are the upright type and the canister type. However, whilst they may look quite similar, they operate in a totally different way.
Modern vacuum cleaners use powerful suction to remove loose dust and dirt from the upper layers of your carpet. Many of them use rotating brushes which agitate the material of the carpet in an attempt to loosen the maximum amount of dirt so that it can be removed.
However, even if you vacuum on a regular basis, it’s unavoidable that some dirt and dust will become trapped deep within the carpet – beyond the reach of even the most efficient modern vacuum cleaner.
That’s where carpet washers come in. These inject water and detergent deep into the carpet which releases trapped dirt and then removes it along with the water and detergent.
You only need to wash your carpets twice a year – for a typical family home. Regular vacuuming is still necessary in order to remove as much loose dust and dirt as possible before it gets ground into the carpet and trapped.
